UPDATE: Former ICT CS Margaret Ndung’u has been appointed to a new role at the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) as a Senior Researcher & Digital Policy Specialist to the DPI Safeguards Strategic Advisory Board.

UNDP says Margaret will provide strategic advice on the adoption, implementation and long-term evolution of the Universal DPI Safeguards Framework.

UPDATE: IEBC denies breaching procedure in reallocation of John Mbadi’s MP seat to Harold Kipchumba, says nomination based on ODM Party list submitted before 2022 polls.

IEBC spoke amid unrest within the ODM Youth League, which has openly rejected Kipchumba’s nomination.

ODM Youth League President John Ketora, widely expected to fill the vacancy, accused IEBC of bypassing his name despite meeting the qualifications.

UPDATE: MPs are set to review a controversial law exempting the estates of former Presidents Jomo Kenyatta and Daniel Moi from inheritance tax, formally known as Estate Duty.

A petition before the National Assembly by public interest litigation advocate John Wangai & Muhia Kagwe challenges the constitutionality of Section 7(3) of the Estate Duty Act (Cap 483).

According to the petitioners, this section goes against Article 210(3) of the Constitution, which states that no law should allow the exclusion of a state officer from paying tax based on their office or duties.

UPDATE: Nairobi Woman Rep Esther Passaris has declared unwavering support for President Ruto, dismissing rivals eyeing her seat.

This comes after IEBC announced that Kenyans can't recall a MP or senator because currently there is no legislation defining recall procedures.

She challenges his opponent to focus on their track record and vision, not on undermining her development legacy and public service.

She insists that leadership should be earned through solutions and delivery—not smear campaigns or cheap sabotage.

UPDATE: KenGen plans to build a wind power plant in Marsabit with an initial capacity of 200 megawatts, ready by 2028.

Later phases will raise its capacity to 1,000MW, making it Africa’s largest planned wind farm.

Elsewhere, KenGen has launched its first battery storage system to power its data center in Nairobi.

The new 1.16MWh system is set to ensure clean and reliable energy even during low grid demand.

UPDATE: MPs have given TSC, PSC, and SRC one month to explain the criteria used to determine allowances.

This directive follows concerns over the fairness and transparency in the distribution and classification of hardship allowances for teachers and other public officers.

TSC has been faceing accusations of handpicking teachers for promotion and deployment to areas with hardship allowances, where they earn more.

Some urban teachers are reportedly posted to rural schools with hardship allowances and given senior positions over local teachers.

UPDATE: IEBC says there is NO legal framework to process the Right of Recalling a member of the National Assembly(MP) or Senator, but possible for MCA.

This means no MP/senator can be recalled currently but the process of validating recall of MCAs is underway at IEBC.

The Commission has formally submitted recommendations to Parliament, urging the enactment of a clear legal framework to govern the recall process for Members of the National Assembly and Senate.
