Homa Bay Governor Gladys Wanga has condemned rising cases of violence against women and girls in Kenya, urging swift action to secure justice for victims.

Speaking during a church service at Covenant Church International Ntulele on September 28, 2025, she singled out two incidents that have shocked the nation.

“I want to condemn the viral video of a lady who was beaten up in Narok by the brothers because she refused to get married off. Jambo k**a hilo in this century tuachane nayo. Wacha wasichana waende shule wasome na waoleke wakati ambapo wamefika umri,” she said.

Wanga further condemned the brutal r**e, murder, and mutilation of 13-year-old Mary Treza, a Grade Seven pupil from Suba North Constituency in Homa Bay County.
