𝐷𝑎𝑡𝑒: 𝐴𝑝𝑟𝑖𝑙 3, 2026During a conflict between Al-Shabaab and government forces, the 203rd Unit of the 20th Battalion, Gorgor Commandos, under the command of Unit Commander Sayid Nuur, conducted a highly planned operation that resulted in the capture of a senior leader from the Al-Shabaab militias operating in the Mubarak area Lower Shabelle Region and its surroundings.

𝐇𝐢𝐅𝐢𝐥𝐞𝐬 received information indicate that the senior militant, identified as Salaad Macalin Cusmaan Cabdiyow, also known as Salaad Dheere, was apprehended while attempting to hide in the forested outskirts of Mubarak.

The capture of this leader represents a significant victory for the residents of Mubarak, as he had previously been involved in multiple security incidents and caused considerable harm in the area.

HiFiles received Information from Baidoa confirm that at approximately 1400 hrs on 03 April 2026, rockets struck Baidoa Airport while an aircraft carrying the President of Somalia was landing. There are currently no reports of casualties or property damage.

Available information suggests that two rockets were fired—one struck the front and the other hit the rear of the plane while the engines were still running.

𝐀𝐬𝐬𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭: Al-Shabaab continues to demonstrate high operational capability and situational awareness near high-value targets. Immediate reinforcement of airport security and protective measures for presidential movements is recommended.

On 2 April 2026, Somali National Army (SNA) forces, supported by local community defense fighters in the Hiiraan region, carried out a well-coordinated and targeted operation against Al-Shabaab militants.

The operation took place in an area known as Abaar-Caanowayne, located between Maxaas district and Yasoomin village in eastern Hiiraan region.

According to information obtained by HiFiles, the planned attack specifically targeted a vehicle carrying members of the Al-Shabaab Amniyat unit, which reportedly included both male and female operatives. During the operation, the vehicle was destroyed by fire, and the militants onboard were neutralized. Weapons in their possession were also seized by the attacking forces.

This is not the first time that Somali National Army forces and local fighters have successfully conducted such operations against Al-Shabaab in the region, highlighting ongoing efforts to disrupt militant activities and enhance security.

🇸🇴 𝐒𝐨𝐦𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐚–𝐔.𝐒. 𝐒𝐞𝐜𝐮𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐂𝐨𝐨𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐒𝐭𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐠𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐧𝐬.

The Director-General of the National Intelligence and Security Agency (NISA), Mr. Mahad Mohamed Salad, has recently concluded a series of high-level meetings in Washington, D.C. with senior officials from the CIA and FBI.

The discussions focused on enhancing intelligence sharing, strengthening counterterrorism efforts, and advancing the long-standing partnership between Somalia and the United States.

During his visit, the NISA Director also toured the U.S. Special Operations Forces headquarters at Fort Bragg, North Carolina, where he met with a senior commander who previously served in Somalia. The meeting highlighted continued cooperation in training, operational coordination, and capacity building for Somali security forces.

Mr. Salad expressed his appreciation for the United States’ ongoing support, noting that joint efforts have led to significant successes, including operations targeting senior Al-Shabaab leaders.

This visit signals a deepening of strategic security ties and a shared commitment to combating terrorism and promoting stability in Somalia and the wider region.
