As a guy who's been working in the tech sector for the past couple of years, I've learned a lot of things, especially the psychology behind the technology.
Lending apps have been prevalent these past couple of years, especially during the pandemic. And what else got popular?
Unauthorized Gambling Apps.
On a programmer's perspective (though I hardly write code anymore because of my work, but still work on how logics should work), simpletons have not yet grasped the concept of these gambling apps being rigged. Yes, they are authorized by the PAGCOR and whatnot (and some of them aren't), but these apps will try to obfuscate the chances of winning and losing.
Sure, let's just say you have a grasp of how statistics works, but it'll almost never be on your side with these gambling apps. They can definitely trick you for having lucking on your side and flip it with a simple algorithm of:
//if winnings = soMany()
//reduceOdds()
They'll know that the player will fall into despair and in most cases, they'll funnel these players into sketchy Lending apps. It's basically free money for The House and the player is rewarded with nothingness and despair.
The gambling apps can also make you think that you can "game" The House because of your win rate, but I'm 98.9% sure that their algorithms have covered that scenario. Even though these gambling apps have "KYC", there'll almost be no guarantee that you can withdraw your winnings if they ever find something "suspicious". And guess what, you'll probably never win in court unless you want to spend almost a million on a trip to Bahamas to find the gambling app's address and just find an old, abandoned warehouse.
Lending apps and Gambling apps work together on preying on the desperate and uneducated. They try so hard to copywrite themselves as "an easy way out" when it's a "no way out" situation in reality.
If you ever want to be a more responsible idiot, just play Lotto once every 3 months. It's less painful and only costs like Php20. It's a tax on idiots, but idiots have the right to dream.
Tl;Dr: Gambling apps are rigged, and they funnel to sketchy lending apps.
