UPDATE | President Dr. William Samoei Ruto Donates KES 500,000 for Student Refreshments at Nairobi School.
President Ruto awarded Nairobi School students half a million for refreshments in a surprise visit today at the institution.
His excellency toured the facility to monitor the progress of on-going constructions, he had commissioned last year including a new dormitory called 'Ngong' House' that will accommodate 1,000 students. More classrooms and laboratories are also under construction.
Nairobi Governor Hon. Johnson Sakaja who had accompanied the president announced that the constructions were not only funded by the government but also by Dr. Ruto himself.
While addressing the students, Ruto said that he zeroed down on Nairobi School because of the limited facilities for students who hail from the Nairobi region. He added that similar projects are also ongoing in Jamhuri High School, State House Girls and Lenana School.
As a result he requested the principal to ensure that atleast 20% of admissions to Nairobi School in the future should go to children from Nairobi County.
During the address, Chief Principal Caspar Maina and Head of School, Mr Ombati thanked the president for his kind gesture.
The president shall return to the facility before second term to launch the projects.
