Sure
Good people, I have suspended my sabbatical break to address this issue once and for all. I have seen the noise online directed at Katumbi, Presenter Waweru, The kims Online tv, MOZ MEDIA KE and a few others.
They are unfortunately being accused of “betraying the movement” simply because they went to cover Governor Wavinya Ndeti’s Youth Empowerment Program today.
Let’s be clear. I’m Not here to defend anyone, I’m here to lay the facts bare, because ofcourse, this is Kamba Insights
Journalists are Not activists. Their work is to show up, cover, and tell the story. You don’t boycott news because it doesn’t please your emotions. Remember, the public has a right to information, and the moment you joined the media, you took that as a responsibility.
Media doesn’t operate on sides. A journalist’s lens follows the story, Not sentiments. Today’s event was news, period. Coverage doesn’t mean loyalty; it means presence, balance, and professionalism.
In journalism, the story is the assignment, Not the emotion. The camera doesn’t ask who is right or wrong, it records what’s happening. A journalist doesn’t belong to the crowd, they belong to the truth, even when that truth makes people uncomfortable.
The moment we start judging coverage based on who benefits politically, we kill journalism and replace it with propaganda. You can’t silence the press today and expect transparency tomorrow.
Let’s stop policing where journalists go. Media is not a movement, it’s a mirror. And sometimes, that reflection hurts.
Let the media breathe. They are doing their job.
I will leave it at that.
