How Kesh. 200 changed my life forever.
One ordinary evening in August, after finishing my usual 8 to 5 job, I boarded a matatu to head home. One Paul Konditi, stepped in selling his own books. On a sudden impulse, I decided to buy one for just KSh 200. Little did I know that small decision would spark a major transformation in my life.
In September, I read that book not once, but three times. The words hit me deeply and forced me to reflect on my own behavior. By the end of the month, I made a bold decision that I have never regretted.
The biggest lesson that book taught me is that there is a huge difference between being “nice” and being “good.” Many of us focus on being nice. We avoid tough conversations, say yes to everything, and try to please everyone. But that often comes from fear: fear of rejection, conflict, or not being liked. Over time, it leads to stress, burnout, and quiet frustration.
Being good is completely different. It means living with integrity, setting clear boundaries, saying “no” when needed, and choosing what is right over what is popular or easy. True leadership at work and in life is not about being liked by everyone. It is about having the courage to stand for what is right, even when it is uncomfortable.
All of this powerful change came from one simple KSh 200 book bought on a matatu ride. Sometimes the smallest actions open the biggest doors.
