In Kenya, councils of elders continue to play an influential role in politics. Beyond preserving culture and tradition, they serve as a trusted bridge between communities and national leadership, offering guidance, fostering unity, and, at times, endorsing political aspirants.
Today, Babu Owino was installed as a Luo elder by a section of the Luo Council of Elders in Nairobi. During the ceremony, he also received the elders' blessing as he pursues his bid for the Nairobi governorship. According to reports, the installation symbolically "set him free" to seek support across all communities in Nairobi while emphasizing unity, inclusion, and service delivery.
