Overwatering can cause root rot, one of the leading killers of avocado trees. Water deeply but only when the soil is dry. 🌱

💡 Pro tip: Mulching helps retain soil moisture and protects the roots from extreme heat.

🌐🚨 Cadmium Alert: Peruvian Avocados Under the Spotlight

Several EU-bound shipments from Peru were rejected due to cadmium levels above the 0.05 mg/kg safety limit. Social media is buzzing, with calls to avoid Peruvian avocados—yet ProHass reassures consumers, noting the issue represents only 0.05% of exports under rigorous testing.

🌍🥑 MOROCCO’S AVOCADO SEASON HIT HARD

Morocco’s avocado growers are facing heavy losses after an intense June heatwave slashed expected volumes by almost 50%. Temperatures soared up to 49°C in key growing areas, causing massive fruit drop.

📉 Forecasts for the 2025/26 season have been cut from 140,000–160,000 tons down to 80,000 tons. With reduced supply, prices are already climbing, expected to start at 30 dirhams/kg, nearly double last year’s start of 17 dirhams.

⏳ Growers are also likely to delay harvesting, holding back until January–March to secure the highest international prices.

👉 This sharp decline means intensified farming efforts, higher costs, and a shift in sales practices, as growers push for better returns in a tough season.
