Transforming Lives Through Development: Bidii Mjini and Water Works Residents Set to Benefit from Rural Electrification Initiative
Through the National Government Constituencies Development Fund (NG-CDF), Kwanza Member of Parliament Hon. Ferdinand Wanyonyi has continued to oversee transformative development projects across the ward, demonstrating a commitment to improving infrastructure and service delivery for residents.
Significant milestones have already been achieved in the education sector and public service delivery. The newly established Bidii Secondary School continues to take shape, while St. Monica's Girls has benefited from a modern eight-classroom storey building aimed at improving the learning environment for students.
Government services have also been brought closer to wananchi through the construction of the Assistant County Commissioner's (ACC) office, making access to key administrative services more convenient for local residents.
Additionally, several schools within the ward have benefited from renovations of classrooms, construction of toilets, and modern ablution facilities, helping create better and safer environments for learning.
Despite these notable achievements, residents of Bidii Mjini and Water Works consistently raised one key concern during public engagements and community meetings access to electricity.
For many families in these areas, electricity has remained unavailable for decades. Generations have grown up without power in their homes, limiting opportunities for education, business growth, and overall socio-economic development.
Today, however, that long-standing challenge is beginning to change.
Following months of mobilization efforts, registration exercises, community meetings, and coordination led by local residents and their electricity committee under the leadership of John Simiyu, progress has finally begun to take shape.
Working closely with representatives from the Office of the Member of Parliament and Kenya Power officials, efforts moved beyond planning and documentation into practical implementation.
A major milestone was achieved on Saturday when the first truck carrying concrete electricity poles arrived in Bidii Mjini.
To many people, these may simply appear to be utility poles. However, for the residents of Bidii Mjini and Water Works, they represent much more progress, dignity, inclusion, and hope for a better future.
The arrival of these materials serves as a clear indication that the voices and concerns of the community have been heard and acted upon.
The excitement and joy witnessed among residents reflects the significance of this development initiative. Access to electricity is more than infrastructure; it is a foundation for economic empowerment, improved education, enhanced security, and opportunities for future generations.
This is development that directly impacts lives and creates lasting change within communities.
