It's so shocking to learn of the passing of Hon. Janet Marania Teyiaa. I served with her in the 12th Parliament when she represented Kajiado County as a Woman Representative. She has left a big gap in the work she did in this world, including fighting for the rights of women and girls. She was a wonderful person to work with as we navigated the challenges of women in politics. She had a strong work ethic and always went above and beyond. The work she did cannot be forgotten. My deepest sympathies to her immediate family and to the people of Kajiado County.

Today, I joined Our Lady of Mercy Mutomo Girls Secondary School for a fundraising event held at the school grounds. During my visit, I promised to fund the school with a computer lab before the end of this financial year. Also assured the parents that bursaries will be issued before the end of next week. Further, I urged the parents to also work hard in terms of paying fees for the students to remain in school as I play my role of bursary allocation.

Today I Attended a meeting in the National Assembly Departmental Committee on Lands with the Principal Secretary at the State Department for Lands & Physical Planning Hon. Nixon Korir, regarding an inquiry on ownership of a disputed land parcel in Lang'ata between a Women's Group and the National Police Service. The inquiry originated from a Statement sought by Kiambaa MP Hon. John Kawanjiku, on behalf of the Wilson Mutumba Women's Group that is laying claim on ownership of the Land; L.R No. 209/14582, located in Lang'ata.
The Committee has directed the PS to appeal again before the Committee on the matter on Tuesday 15th April 2025, to shed more light on some of the fresh queries that emerged during the session. The Committee is currently also meeting officials from the National Land Commission on the same.

Today H:E the President, held a meeting with Broadbased:Kenya Kwanza leaders from the Ukambani region.
The meeting discussed Governments development projects and took stock of what has been achieved so far and what needs to be accelerated. Also, the President expressed his desire and plans to hold a meeting with community leaders from Ukambani in the coming month of April, to be followed by a development tour of Machakos, Makueni and Kitui counties.
The President urged the leaders to work as a team and to focus on the delivery of services and development to Wananchi and avoid political disagreements. This is based on the President’s desire to work with all leaders for the benefit of the people of Ukambani.

A meeting of the National Assembly Departmental Committee on Lands with the PS at the State Department for Lands & Physical Planning Hon. Nixon Korir for review of Supplementary Estimates No. 2 FY 2024/2025.

The State Department is seeking to revise its Recurrent Expenditure by Kshs. 404 Million and the Development Expenditure by Kshs. 1.77 Billion, bringing the total change estimates to Kshs. 2.174 Billion. The Committee will also separately meet the National Land Commission (NLC) over the same.

The Committee Members will subsequently draft a Report which the Chairperson will defend before the Liason Committee which is processing the Supplementary Estimates No. 2 FY 2024/2025 pending the full reconstitution of the Budget and Appropriations Committee that is due to elect new leadership.

In this meeting I requested for the settlement of a section of Athi ward residents who occupy land belonging to ranching companies. The matter needs to be handled by achieving a win win situation for both the residents and land owners.
