If I was starting university in 2026 and I knew what I know now about the tech industry, I wouldn't choose a course simply because someone told me to. The tech course I'd choose if I were starting university today.

Tech course that won't be affected by AI no matter how good it gets. AI is growing so rapidly however some majors will still need people around to secure, analyze and manage AI

A few years ago, learning a digital skill felt like having a superpower.

You could learn coding, graphic design, digital marketing, video editing, cybersecurity… and suddenly you had a skill that most people around you didn't understand.

So everyone started saying:

β€œLearn a digital skill.”

β€œLearn tech.”

β€œCoding is the future.”

And honestly, they weren't wrong.

But there's something nobody really tells you.

Learning the skill is only the beginning.

I remember thinking that once I became good at coding, opportunities would automatically come.

I would learn HTML.

Then CSS.

Then JavaScript.

Then React.

And eventually, I would be β€œjob ready.”

But after learning all these things, I realized something uncomfortable:

Knowing how to code doesn't automatically make you valuable.

Because there are thousands of people who can write code.

Thousands who have certificates.

Thousands who have watched the same tutorials.

Thousands who can build a basic website.

So what separates you from them?

It's what you can do with the skill.

Can you take someone's problem and build a solution?

Can you create something without following a tutorial step by step?

Can you explain your work?

Can you work with a client?

Can you show people what you've built?

Can you turn your skill into income?

That's where the game changes.

The internet has made learning incredibly accessible.

You don't need to know someone who works in tech.

You don't need to spend millions on courses.

You can literally sit with a laptop and learn from some of the best resources in the world.

But now, access to knowledge isn't the biggest advantage.

Ex*****on is.

So if you're currently learning tech, don't spend the next two years collecting courses and certificates.

Build.

Break things.

Fix them.

Build again.

Put your work online.

Talk about what you're learning.

Solve real problems.

And most importantly...

Don't just learn a skill. Learn how to create value with it.

Because in a world where almost everyone is being told to β€œlearn a digital skill,”

the people who stand out won't necessarily be the ones who know the most.

They'll be the ones who can actually use what they know.

I'm Kelvin, a developer helping businesses build modern websites and digital solutions that solve real problems.

The biggest reason most people don't achieve their goals isn't a lack of talent.

It's because they stop.

They get excited on Day 1.
Motivated in Week 1.
Consistent for a Month.

Then life happens.

Work gets busy.
Progress feels slow.
They compare themselves to people who have been doing it for years.

And they quit.

The truth is, your goals don't require perfect motivation.

They require a system that keeps you moving even on the days you don't feel like it.

Here are a few things that have helped me stay focused:

β€’ Set goals that are measurable. Instead of saying, "I want to learn React," say, "I'll build 5 React projects in the next 3 months."

β€’ Make progress impossible to ignore. Track your daily work, even if it's just one hour. Small wins build momentum.

β€’ Fall in love with consistency, not intensity. Three focused hours every day for a year will beat one weekend of motivation.

β€’ Remember why you started. When motivation disappears, your purpose should take over.

β€’ Stop comparing your Chapter 2 to someone else's Chapter 20. The only competition that matters is the person you were yesterday.

There will be days when you feel like you're making no progress.

Keep going.

There will be moments when you question if it's worth it.

Keep going.

Success usually belongs to the people who simply refused to stop.

One year from now, you'll either be grateful you stayed consistent or you'll wish you had.

The choice you make today determines which version of yourself you'll meet tomorrow.

πŸš€ Your Project Ideas Can Become Your Tech Career Roadmap

One of the biggest mistakes beginners make in tech is asking:

❌ "Which programming language should I learn?"

Before you even know what you want to build.

A better question is:

πŸ‘‰ "What do I want to build?"

Your project ideas can actually guide you toward the right technologies and even help you discover the tech career that fits you best.

For example:

🌐 You want to build beautiful websites?
Start with HTML β†’ CSS β†’ JavaScript β†’ React β†’ Next.js
You might be heading toward Frontend Development.

πŸ“± You want to build mobile apps?
Explore JavaScript/TypeScript with React Native, or Dart with Flutter.
You might be heading toward Mobile App Development.

βš™οΈ You want to build APIs and powerful backend systems?
Explore Node.js, Python, Java, PHP, or C #.
You might be heading toward Backend Development.

πŸ—„οΈ You enjoy working with data and databases?
Learn SQL, PostgreSQL, MySQL, and database design.
You might be heading toward Database Engineering or Data.

πŸ€– You want to build AI-powered applications?
Explore Python, machine learning, APIs, and AI frameworks.
You might be heading toward AI/ML Engineering.

πŸ” You enjoy protecting systems and finding vulnerabilities?
Explore networking, Linux, security tools, and scripting.
You might be heading toward Cybersecurity.

☁️ You want to deploy, automate, and manage applications?
Explore Linux, Docker, cloud platforms, CI/CD, and infrastructure.
You might be heading toward DevOps or Cloud Engineering.

The projects you choose can become your roadmap.

Instead of learning 10 programming languages because someone told you they are "important," pick a project you genuinely want to build.

Then ask:

What technology do I need to build this?

Learn that.

Build the project.

Then ask:

What is missing?

Learn the next thing.

Build again.

Over time, your projects will naturally reveal:

βœ… What you enjoy
βœ… What you're good at
βœ… What technologies you need
βœ… What career path fits you
βœ… What kind of problems you want to solve

You don't need to know your entire tech career today.

Start with a project. Let the project guide your learning. Let your learning shape your career.

πŸ’‘ Don't learn technology just to collect skills. Learn technology to build something.

That's how you turn confusion into direction.

🎯 HOW TO CHOOSE THE RIGHT FIELD IN TECH

One of the biggest mistakes people make when starting a career in tech is trying to learn everything at once.

Today they want to become a software developer.

Tomorrow, they're interested in cybersecurity.

Next week, they're learning data science.

Then AI comes along and they want to learn that too.

Before they know it, months or even years have passed, but they haven't gone deep enough in anything to become really good.

The problem isn't that you're interested in many things.

The problem is not knowing what to focus on.

So how do you choose your path? πŸ‘‡

1️⃣ Ask yourself: What do I actually enjoy?

Do you enjoy building websites and applications?

πŸ‘‰ Look into Frontend or Full-Stack Development.

Do you enjoy protecting systems and finding vulnerabilities?

πŸ‘‰ Explore Cybersecurity.

Do you love working with data and finding patterns?

πŸ‘‰ Consider Data Science or Data Analytics.

Do you enjoy infrastructure, servers, and automation?

πŸ‘‰ Explore Cloud Computing or DevOps.

Do you enjoy creating intelligent systems?

πŸ‘‰ Explore AI and Machine Learning.

Your interests can give you your first direction.

2️⃣ Try before you commit

Don't spend six months wondering if a field is right for you.

Spend one or two weeks exploring it.

Watch tutorials.

Take a beginner course.

Build a small project.

See how you feel.

You don't have to marry your first choice. πŸ˜‚

You just need to start somewhere.

3️⃣ Look at the problems you enjoy solving

Ask yourself:

"What kind of problems do I enjoy solving?"

The answer can tell you a lot about where you belong in tech.

4️⃣ Choose ONE primary direction

Once you've explored your options, pick one area and give it your full attention.

You can still learn other technologies later.

But first, build depth before chasing breadth.

Don't try to become a frontend developer, cybersecurity expert, data scientist, cloud engineer, and AI engineer all at the same time.

Focus.

5️⃣ Give yourself enough time

You won't know if a field is right for you after watching two YouTube videos.

Give yourself 6–12 months of consistent learning and practice before making a major decision to switch.

Learn.

Build.

Fail.

Improve.

Then evaluate.

🚨 Remember this:

You are not behind because you haven't figured everything out yet.

But you can lose valuable time by constantly jumping from one field to another without giving anything enough time to grow.

Tech is huge.

You don't need to learn everything.

You need to find your corner of tech, become really good at it, and then expand from there.

Choose a direction.

Focus your energy.

Build real projects.

Stay consistent.

And if you discover that your chosen path isn't for you, change direction intentionallyβ€”not because you got distracted by the next trending technology.

The goal isn't to know everything.

The goal is to become valuable at something. πŸš€

🎯 SETTING GOALS IS EASY. ACHIEVING THEM IS THE REAL WORK.

A lot of people are good at setting goals.

"This year, I'll learn to code."
"This month, I'll build a project."
"This week, I'll start learning React."

But after setting the goal, what happens next?

You get busy.

You get tired.

You lose motivation.

And suddenly, that goal becomes something you "plan to do someday."

So how do you make sure you actually achieve the goals you set?

πŸ”₯ 1. TURN YOUR GOAL INTO SMALLER GOALS

Don't say:

❌ "I want to become a developer."

Say:

βœ… "This week, I'll learn JavaScript functions."

Then:

βœ… "Next week, I'll build a project using them."

Big goals become achievable when you break them into small actions.

πŸ“… 2. SET WEEKLY TARGETS

You don't need to plan your entire life.

Ask yourself:

"What must I accomplish this week to move closer to my goal?"

Focus on the week in front of you.

One week at a time.

One project at a time.

One skill at a time.

πŸ”₯ 3. DON'T RELY ON MOTIVATION

Motivation comes and goes.

Discipline keeps you moving when motivation disappears.

There will be days when you don't feel like coding.

Learn anyway.

There will be days when you feel like you're not improving.

Keep going anyway.

There will be days when you want to quit.

Remember why you started.

πŸ“Š 4. TRACK YOUR PROGRESS

Don't just set goals. Measure them.

Ask yourself every week:

What did I learn?
What did I build?
What did I improve?
What did I fail to complete?
What will I do differently next week?

Progress becomes easier to see when you track it.

🚫 5. DON'T QUIT BECAUSE YOU MISSED A DAY

Missing one day doesn't mean you've failed.

Missing one week doesn't mean you've failed.

The real failure is deciding that because you fell off track, you can never get back on.

Restart.

Get back to work.

Keep moving.

⏳ 6. REMEMBER THAT TIME WILL PASS ANYWAY

Five years from now, you will still wish you had started.

You will still feel behind.

You will still have things you want to learn.

So why not start now?

The version of you five years from now is depending on what you do today.

Don't just set goals.

Build systems that make achieving them inevitable.

Set the goal.

Break it down.

Take action.

Track your progress.

Adjust when necessary.

And most importantly...

DON'T GIVE UP.

Your dream career won't be built in one day.

It will be built through the small things you do consistently, week after week, even when nobody is watching. πŸš€

πŸš€ HOW TO SET GOALS IN TECH, WITHOUT FEELING LEFT BEHIND
One of the biggest mistakes you can make in tech is setting goals that are too far away.
"By the end of this year, I want to be a software developer."
"In 5 years, I want to be a senior engineer."
Those goals are greatβ€”but they can feel overwhelming.
Instead, start thinking WEEK BY WEEK. 🎯
Don't just ask yourself:
❌ "What do I want to achieve this year?"
Ask:
βœ… "What do I want to achieve this week?"
This week, I will learn JavaScript functions.
Next week, I will build a small project.
The following week, I will learn React components.
The week after that, I will push my project to GitHub.
Small goals. Consistent action. Real progress.
You don't need to master everything today.
You don't need to know everything your favorite developer knows.
You don't need to compare your Chapter 1 to someone else's Chapter 20.
And most importantly, DON'T GIVE UP. πŸ”₯
You may feel like you're behind right now.
But here's the truth:
If you don't start taking action today, five years from now, you may still feel behind.
Time will pass whether you act or not.
So don't spend the next five years worrying about how far behind you are.
Spend the next 5 years building.
Start with one week.
Set one goal.
Learn one concept.
Build one project.
Solve one problem.
Then do it again next week.
You are not behind. You are on your own journey.
Your job is not to catch up with everyone else.
Your job is to become better than the person you were yesterday.
🎯 Set weekly goals.
πŸ’» Build consistently.
πŸ“š Keep learning.
πŸ”₯ Don't give up.
πŸš€ Trust the process.
One day, you'll look back and realize that the small things you did every week became the career you once dreamed about.
Start this week. Not someday.
