SRC gives huge pay rise to the Big Fish.

Taxpayers will pay more than Sh785 million annually to MPs and county top officials in a new salary structure proposed by the Salaries and Remuneration Commission.

The SRC on Tuesday sought public views on the changes, which will become effective once gazetted by the commission. In the proposed remuneration and benefits structure, MPs’ gross salary would rise to Sh710,000 per month from the current Sh621,250.

SRC chairperson Lyn Mengich said there would be no upward review owing to the pressure on the exchequer caused by Covid-19. “The SRC has advised the national and county governments that there will be no review of the basic salary structures, allowances and benefits paid in the public service in the financial year 2021-22 to 2022-23,” the SRC boss said an introduction to the proposed pay structure.

“The proposed monthly consolidated remuneration package is fixed for the term of the office of the state officer in the executive of the county governments unless otherwise reviewed and set by the SRC,” chairperson Mengich said.

Nyashinski clears the air concerning giving handouts on twitter.

Kenyan singer Nyashinski has said a Twitter account offering people money is an impersonator. “Tumeni number niwatumie kakitu kwa M-Pesa. 1hr chance,” read the tweet.

Hours after hundreds of Kenyans on Twitter sent their numbers via the comment section, Nyashinski tweeted with his real account and warned fans about the impostor. "This is NOT Me. Please stop sending money!" Nyashinski wrote.

A quick check also shows that Nyashinski's real account (RealShinski) joined Twitter in September 2013, while the parody account (OfficialShinski) joined the platform in March 2016.

Nyashinski is one of the many celebrities who have had to deal with impersonators conning their fans on social media.

Other celebrity social media accounts, including Nameless, DJ Pierra Makena, Catherine Kamau, Habida, and Maina Kageni, have been targeted by hackers. In most instances, the hackers demand a ransom to hand back the accounts.
