Slavery did not go away.
It changed its costume.
It is no longer physical persecution but mental exhaustion.
The slave masters exploit your mind by extracting your time, your effort, and your imagination.
Slavery did not go back to Britain, it just wore a newer suit and called itself DEBT.
For example,
A rural man, with the capability of living his best life by using his time and available resources (land, water, sun) to build his fortune, spends his resources paying debts to modern slave masters.
A rural man buys an M-Kopa phone on credit,
— He deposits Ksh 6500
He was given the phone for use on the condition that he remit Ksh 140 per day for 366 days.
• This translates to Ksh 51,240.
• Total is Ksh 57,740.
• He spent Ksh 57,740 on a phone with a market value of Ksh 28,000.
What a travesty!
Is this not a new way of looting from an Afrikan without his knowledge?
This is in addition to the surveillance and inconvenience if he defaults even for a day.
He has been misadvised that he owns the phone when, in truth, it doesn't belong to him.
Therefore, he must wake up every morning thinking about the debt he owes a foreign company and not about his fortune.
He must trade his effort for a phone that will lose its efficiency once he finally owns it.
We must unequivocally awaken our people and tell them slavery is no longer about being in physical chains but being in mental servitude.
STOP buying these microcredit phones, electronics, solar lamps, and motorcycles.
Debt is a tool of oppression, servitude, and a cycle of poverty.
Proverbs 22:7 says, "The rich rule over the poor, and the borrower is slave to the lender."
Refuse to be slaves to predatory lenders!
