President William Ruto held talks on December 4, 2025 with International Finance Corporation (IFC) Managing Director Makhtar Diop in Washington, D.C., confirming strong IFC interest in Kenya’s innovative new approach to development financing, anchored by the establishment of an Infrastructure Fund.
The IFC welcomed this model, which aims to accelerate the realization of national development goals by attracting private capital.
The discussions focused on tangible future investments, with Kenya set to host a senior IFC delegation early next year, led by Vice President Mohamed Gouled, to advance discussions on energy and major infrastructure projects.
Key areas of focus include the modernisation of Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) under a Public Private Partnership (PPP) model, expansion of major roads, and the generation and transmission of clean power from geothermal, hydro, and wind sources
