She used to text me countless times a day. She works nearby, earning a living to support herself. I’m unemployed, and I never imagined that my situation would affect our blossoming relationship — but lately, it feels like it has.

She always said she didn’t mind my circumstances. Whenever I spoke about it, her responses never showed resentment or dismissal. But ever since I began expressing deeper feelings for her, the excitement and enthusiasm have faded.

I can’t help but suspect she’s seeing someone else. She mentioned the possibility months ago, and now her shorter, less frequent replies seem to confirm what I’ve been fearing.
