9-Year-Old Girl Found Dead, Suspect Arrested in Mathira West Police in Mathira West recovered the body of 9-year-old Shantel Waruguru Kagema from a pit latrine after she went missing on Feb 8, 2026. Evidence found in a nearby abandoned house helped identify a suspect, Peter Njuguna, who was arrested and led detectives to the location. He is in custody for 21 days as investigations continue. Authorities say they are committed to justice for Shantel and protection of children.
