UPDATE: CJ Martha Koome has formally assigned Justice Richard Mwongo of the Embu High Court to hear a petition in which two Mbeere North voters seek to nullify the recent by-election.
The voters argues that the declared winner, Leonard Wa Muthende Njeru, used mismatched names during nomination, on the voter roll, and on election materials.
The case, which lists Wa Muthende, the IEBC and the constituency returning officer as respondents, now moves to a full hearing as disputes over identity records and electoral documentation head into open court in Embu.
