Maurice Ogeta Claims Professor Makau Compromised Raila Odinga’s Security During 2023 Azimio Protests
Former Raila Odinga bodyguard Maurice Ogeta has accused Professor Makau of compromising the team’s security efforts during the 2023 Azimio protests by livestreaming events from inside Raila’s vehicle.
Ogeta claims the team had received intelligence about possible attacks and was working on strategies to protect the late opposition leader. However, he says he was unaware that someone inside the vehicle was broadcasting live footage of events and discussions.
“To this day, I’m not sure if I have forgiven him,” Ogeta said, explaining that livestreaming exposed the team’s movements and coordination to both allies and potential adversaries.
He added that he was surprised when people from the United States and South Africa contacted him, saying his actions were being scrutinised. According to Ogeta, he later realised that Professor Makau was livestreaming from Raila’s car.
Ogeta further suggested that some people around Raila had let him down, either deliberately or through ignorance.
Professor Makau later became an adviser to President William Ruto, adding another dimension to the claims surrounding his time around the former opposition leader.
The allegations highlight Ogeta’s concerns about the security risks the team faced during the politically charged 2023 demonstrations.
