After the long, treacherous journey from the Port of Mombasa to Lodwar - 1,150 km / 720 miles, tons of relief food were offloaded at the National Cereals and Produce Board (​NCPB) silos; a state corporation that offers procurement, management, storage and distribution for strategic food reserves.
Carefully stacked for optimal preservation — this is the temporary home before the final, most important leg: reaching the people.
Onloading starts - unfortunately no forklifts, just grit, sweat, and the quiet knowledge that lives depend on it.
A reminder that logistics isn't just movement — it's care, planning, resilience and protection of hope.

The long journey of relief food from the Port of Mombasa to the heart of Turkana — a week-long, perilous trip through bandit-prone routes and unforgiving terrain.
This was more than a delivery — it was a mission. A lifeline on wheels.

It was an honor to document this for WFP, in partnership with USAID.

As global aid landscapes evolve and programs like USAID face funding cuts, we remember the lives touched — the families fed, the futures changed.
This work mattered. It still does.

🌱 This World Food Day, we’re excited to announce that our exhibition in partnership with Brink is live today in the Netherlands! Titled Mwenye macho haambiwi tazama, the exhibition highlights the invisible hands that make meals possible, uncovering the often-overlooked journeys of our food within the informal food economy.
