REPORTS REACHING Samburu Newsflash indicate heightened insecurity along the S-Corner – Mugur View Point stretch in Samburu East, where suspected road bandits have been spotted.
According to received information, a vehicle narrowly escaped a potential road ambush in the area. Shortly after, a matatu traveling from Wamba to Maralal encountered eight Kenya Police Reservists (KPR) on motorbikes, who warned the crew and passengers of the looming danger ahead.
The KPR officers then escorted the matatu to Sura-Adoru, ensuring safe passage through the insecure stretch.
Residents and road users are urged to remain vigilant and exercise caution when traveling along the route as security agencies continue monitoring the situation.

TENSION erupted earlier today when a group of protesters in Maralal reportedly chased one Nkirau Lesilampa, a casual worker in the Office of the Samburu Governor, accusing her of withholding promised handouts. Witnesses said the crowd demanded accountability, forcing her to flee. She reportedly sought refuge at Maralal Police Station, sparking a chaotic scene that drew onlookers.
While the exact circumstances remain disputed, the incident underscores growing frustration over unfulfilled promises. Authorities had not commented on the matter at the time of publication, and efforts to reach Nkirau Lesilampa for comments were not fruitful.
