Forest vs Jungle

A forest is a large area dominated by trees and can occur in tropical, temperate, or cold climates. Forests may have open spaces and different levels of vegetation.

A jungle is a type of dense, usually tropical forest with thick undergrowth, vines, broad-leaved plants and limited open space. Jungles are generally hot, humid and rich in biodiversity.

In simple terms: A jungle is a type of forest, but not every forest is a jungle.

Kenya is tightening regulation of private water sources, with borehole owners facing permits, water use charges and compliance requirements. In Nairobi, the 2026 Finance Act has also introduced new charges affecting commercial boreholes. At the same time, Kenya’s water framework has opened room for public private partnerships in water services.
The bigger question is whether government is doing enough to reduce the cost of water for ordinary Kenyans. Regulation and private-sector participation may have a role, but consumers also need affordable and reliable water, not simply more fees and charges.

TUNALIPA
The government continues to make billions in debt repayments, but Kenya’s overall public debt keeps rising. National Treasury data shows total public and publicly guaranteed debt increased from KSh11.81 trillion in June 2025 to KSh13.12 trillion by June 2026, even as the government made substantial principal and interest payments. Treasury explains that government also borrows to finance budget deficits and repay maturing debt.

So the debate is not whether Kenya pays debt. It does. The question is why the debt stock keeps increasing despite those repayments.

RSF-linked individuals have been reported to have obtained Kenyan passports, raising questions over how quickly sensitive travel documents can be processed. At the same time, concerns have been raised over alleged irregular issuance of Kenyan IDs to foreign nationals and activities along the borders. Government officials say new Kenyan IDs can now be issued in as little as one day in Nairobi, while processing elsewhere can take up to 10 days. For ordinary Kenyans, however, delays in accessing passports, IDs and other essential documents remain a major concern. The question is simple: why should legitimate citizens struggle to access documents meant for them?

KTN News has raised questions over alleged voter registration activities along the Kenya Uganda border ahead of the 2027 General Election. The concerns also include claims about the issuance of Kenyan identification documents to people who may not be eligible to receive them. Political leaders have called for investigations and clarification. IEBC has, however, rejected allegations of illegal voter registration, voter transfers and registration of foreigners, saying no credible evidence has been presented. The controversy has renewed scrutiny of Kenya’s ID and voter registration systems and their safeguards ahead of the 2027 election.

LOCAL CONTRACTORS TAKE GOVERNMENT TO COURT OVER CHINESE TAX BREAKS

Local contractors and truck owners have moved to court seeking the publication of tax and duty exemptions granted to Chinese contractors working on infrastructure projects in Kenya.

They want the court to determine whether the exemptions and other concessions are lawful and whether they disadvantage Kenyan businesses.
