Albert Ojwang, a prominent social media influencer known for his presence on X (formerly Twitter), tragically passed away on June 7, 2025, under controversial circumstances. He was arrested in Migori over a social media post deemed offensive and transported to Nairobi, where he was detained at Central Police Station.

According to the National Police Service (NPS), Ojwang sustained head injuries by allegedly hitting his head against a cell wall while in solitary confinement. He was rushed to Mbagathi Hospital but was pronounced dead upon arrival. The police's account has been met with skepticism, and many Kenyans are questioning the circumstances surrounding his death.

His father, Meshack Ojwang, recounted the events leading to his son's arrest, describing how police officers arrived at their home in Homa Bay, informing them that Albert had been detained for a social media post. Meshack noted that Albert was eating with family members when the officers arrived, and he was taken away without further explanation.

The Independent Policing Oversight Authority (IPOA) has initiated an investigation into the incident to determine the cause of death
