Today His Excellency Kimani Wamatangi commissioned an audit of all residential and commercial buildings across the county, both complete and those under construction, to examine structural integrity.

This is to address the continuous collapsing of building leading to deaths, in what has been attributed to poor workmanship as a result of failure by county government to enforce compliance and corruption.

The exercise dubbed "Rapid Response Initiative on building approval compliance and enforcement" speared headed by Lands and Planning County Executive Committee Member Salome Muthoni, is to ensure developers obtain the requisite approvals, including occupational certificates.

The audit being done in collaboration with national government, will culminate in the developers getting an opportunity to regularize approvals and certificates where the buildings will be marked as safe by experts, and hazardous ones brought down, and owners paraded in court.

Preliminary investigations have established about 80 percent of recently constructed buildings, including those occupied, have been constructed without approvals and developers doing construction against the approved plans, and some of them are already in a precarious state.

Today I joined the congregation at ACK Church in Mwimuto, Kabete Sub-County for the Sunday service.

BURSARY
Starting Monday next week, we will start disbursing bursary worth Sh100 million for needy students, and in addition to that, I will be forwarding a supplementary budget to the county assembly with a proposal to allocate another Sh100 million to the kitty.

HEALTH
I would like to recognize the excellent work that our health workers are doing even as we embark on a major transformation of healthcare in the county through a raft of radical reforms. However, there are a few individuals in the health sector who have been doing business at the cost of services to the mwananchi. My commitment to ensuring that money meant for the public is used prudently without wastage still stands.

ROADS AND TOWN UPGRADE
I assured residents of Kabete and the county at large, that all rural access roads within their areas will be rehabilitated and in all our towns and trading centers, streets and pathways will be paved with cabros. My government has already purchased cabro making machines within the vocational training centers. I urge the youth to take up the training offered at the centers to equip them with the technical skills for making cabros. The cabros manufactured at the centers will be used to pave walkways and roads in the county giving the youth an opportunity to earn a living.
