Hon.Mohammed Adow Leads Food Distribution and Water Bowser Deployment as Constituency Visit Enters Day Three

Wajir South MP Hon. Mohammed Adow continued his community outreach on Friday as his constituency tour moved into its third day. He led a collaborative food distribution effort with the Red Cross in Gerile, Handaki, and Wajir Boor, benefiting around 500 households. Additionally, Hon. Adow supervised the delivery of a water bowser aimed at addressing the local water shortage brought on by drought—an essential resource for residents performing ablutions during Ramadan. The Deputy Governor, H.E Ahmed Muhumed Abdi, flagged of Ramadan Iftar food distribution program, aimed at providing essential food items to 12,000 households across 30 wards. The distributed items include maize flour, dates, fortified porridge, and cooking oil, with a focus on the most vulnerable populations, including orphans, people with disabilities, the elderly, single-headed families, and those experiencing extreme poverty.

"In launching this Iftar food distribution program, we reaffirm our commitment to serving our community and upholding the principles of compassion, especially during the last 10 days of Ramadan," stated Deputy Governor Ahmed Muhumed.

Beneficiary identification has been conducted through community-based targeting, involving community leaders and county staff to ensure no deserving case is overlooked.

"As we distribute these meals, let us reflect on the significance of our actions and their impact on those around us. Let us strive to embody the spirit of Ramadan by showing kindness, compassion, and generosity to everyone we encounter," emphasized Deputy Governor Ahmed Muhumed.

Acknowledging the importance of sustainable solutions, Deputy Governor Ahmed highlighted the administration's priority to invest in food security and resilience-building within the community, emphasizing the need to focus on crop and livestock production as well as livelihood diversification in the long run.
