Former President Uhuru Kenyatta has revisited his 2022 warning to Kenyans against electing William Ruto, saying the hardships being felt today stem from ignoring his advice.

Speaking during the Jubilee Party National Delegates Conference in Nairobi on Friday, September 26, Uhuru said his counsel at the time was based on leadership experience but was dismissed with insults and political noise.

“Ladies and gentlemen, over the years, as a leader, some things have become apparent and clear to me… In the last general election, I endeavoured to pass this message. Unfortunately, it fell on deaf ears and was lost in the noise of pink sounds, character assassinations, myths and stories of dynasties and hustlers and so on,” he said.

Uhuru faulted the current government for replacing established policies with “untried, untested schemes,” describing them as trial-and-error policies. He warned that while Kenyans wait for these experiments to work, progress stalls and citizens continue to suffer.

He also recalled his disagreements with Ruto during their second term in office, saying he had seen authoritarian tendencies in him. Uhuru supported Raila Odinga in the 2022 presidential election, but Ruto, running under UDA, won with 7.1 million votes against Raila’s 6.9 million.

Uhuru, who served as Kenya’s fourth president from 2013 to 2022, now maintains that the reversal of his key policies and the current economic struggles show that his message was timely but ignored.

The body of the late Corporal Kennedy Mutuku Nzuve, who tragically passed away in a road accident while serving with the Multinational Security Support Mission (MSSM) in Haiti, was received at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) on the evening of 26th September 2025.

The solemn ceremony was led by Mr. Isaac Alimaa, SAIG, Commandant of the National Police College Embakasi 'A' Campus. Also present were the officer’s family, including his mother Mrs. Serah Nzuve, alongside senior officials: Mr. Aggrey Shamala, AIG (Commandant of the RDU), Madam Lilian Kanini, AIG (Director of Medical Services for APS), Mr. Haron Nthiga, AIG (Chief of Staff for APS), and Mr. Muchiri Nyaga, AIG (NPS Spokesperson).

The National Police Service extended its deepest condolences to the family, friends, and colleagues of the fallen officer and pledged unwavering support during this time of grief.

The body was transferred to Chiromo Mortuary for preservation, with burial arrangements to be announced later.
