                                            REDEFINED HEALTHCARE, REWRITTEN DESTINY
In the heart of Eldoret Town, a powerful story unfolded today, one that blends innovation in healthcare with a living example of Kenyan resilience. Dr. Ruto K. Erick , President of the Kenya National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KNCCI) and Founder & CEO of Reale Hospitals, officially launched Reale Clinic II at the Anchors Building in Eldoret’s bustling CBD.
But behind the elegant ribbon-cutting ceremony and modern medical facility lies an extraordinary tale of grit, failure, faith, and triumphant reinvention.....
More than two decades ago, Dr. Ruto made what seemed like a reckless decision: he resigned from a secure public service job to pursue the uncertain world of self-employment.
Armed with little more than courage and conviction, he began selling potatoes door to door, market to market with his Pick-up. It wasn’t glamorous, but it was honest work especially considering the hard hectic work of digging and lifting from farm...
He later tried his hand in the matatu business, and then entered the world of Betting famously known as Tombola, an analog betting game, so addictive but that eventually led to devastating losses.
At his lowest point, one day while in far Kakamega, he sold his potatoes and sat down to bet, he lost everything that day. Having lost everything, Dr. Ruto recalled the lyrics of Kenny Rogers’ song “The Gambler” — "You gotta know when to hold ’em, know when to fold ’em..." and made a life-changing decision: quit gambling, rebuild with purpose.
And rebuild he did. From scratch, he opened a tiny medical clinic, focused on service, integrity, and care. Patient by patient, brick by brick, that clinic grew into what we know today as Reale Hospitals — a trusted healthcare brand that now employs over 1,000 people across Kenya and the wider region.
Today’s opening of Reale Clinic II is not just the expansion of a hospital chain rather it is the continuation of a vision rooted in pain, perseverance, and prayer. The new outpatient centre will provide accessible, quality healthcare to thousands in Eldoret Town, offering general consultations, diagnostics, specialist clinics, and preventive services.
“This clinic brings care closer to where people live and work. It’s a reflection of our dream to make quality healthcare affordable and accessible for every Kenyan,” said Dr. Ruto during the launch.
Located on the 1st Floor of the Anchors Building, Reale Clinic II is equipped with modern medical technologies, trained professionals, and a patient-first approach offering walk-in services to all without discrimination.
What makes Dr. Eric Ruto’s journey even more powerful is his humility. Born on the slopes of Torongo Hills in Baringo County, he has never let success cloud his roots. He often speaks openly about his failures, so others can find hope in them.
Now serving as President of KNCCI, he continues to mentor entrepreneurs, champion SME development, and serve as a voice for ethical business and inclusive growth.
“His story is a blueprint for the youth,” said a local university student who attended the launch. “From potatoes to purpose. From loss to leadership. What more proof do we need that we too can rise?”
With Reale Clinic II now open, and several other branches in operation across the country, Dr. Ruto’s legacy is no longer just personal it is national. It is a movement to redefine healthcare, reignite entrepreneurship, and rebuild broken dreams.
As the ribbon fell and the doors opened, the message was clear: Kenya still produces giants not because they never fell, but because they refused to stay down.
📍 Reale Clinic II is now open at Anchors Building, 1st Floor, Eldoret Town. Walk in and experience care, redefined.
