What an honour it was to stand with rangers at the Wildlife Ranger Challenge 2026 cheering on the and the at the Lewa hub run.

Six years ago, this began as a fundraiser to support the men and women who protect our wildlife. Today, it has grown into something far greater a platform for ranger camaraderie, lifelong relationships, and healthy competition in the name of conservation.

Rangers are the real guardians of Africa’s wild spaces. They sacrifice time, comfort, and sometimes everything so that elephants roam, bongos thrive, and wilderness endures.

A special thank you to and the for an incredible 2026 edition and congratulations to every ranger across the continent who gave their all in this year’s challenge. You inspire us all.

A week later, and I’m still reflecting on this incredible evening Century Cinemax Kenya Nairobi.

We had the privilege of watching National Geographic LION produced by the BBC Studios Natural History Unit, and I was deeply honored to moderate the Q&A with some of the brilliant Kenyan talent behind this extraordinary four-year conservation storytelling journey - Faith Musembi Anthony Njuguna and Sammy Munene together a team of over 30 people that made this possible.

Being in the room surrounded by storytellers, filmmakers, conservationists, family, friends, and a community passionate about Africa’s wild spaces was truly special.

A huge thank you yo everyone who showed up and shared in the experience.

He grew up herding goats in the Mara - now he’s studying biology, flying drones, and helping protect the same land he was born on.

Brian Kaelo said something we’ll keep thinking about: opportunities are real, but you have to be ready for them.

That means showing up, reaching out, attending the conference, and building the connections before you need them.

He also reminded us that conservation isn’t just about wildlife. It’s about people, land, science, and the future we’re trying to build together.
