A 17-year-old girl from Meru County identified as Blessing Ntinyari was left stranded in Thika after allegedly being dismissed from her job as a house manager just four days after employment.

According to reports, Blessing had been hired by a woman identified as Gakii, originally from Meru but residing in Thika, to take care of her 2-year-old child and assist with household duties.

The incident occurred at around 1 am when the employer sent the teenager away after the child refused to eat food she had prepared. Blessing was accused of failing to bond with the toddler within the short period she had worked in the home.

Sources say her belongings were packed into a carrier bag and she was forced to leave the house at night with no money or food, leaving her stranded in Thika town.

A boda boda rider who found the teenager later mobilized well-wishers to help her get food and secure a place to spend the night, with the incident sparking reactions online over the treatment of young domestic workers.
