POOR GIRL HELPS AN ELDERLY MAN BEING BEING HUMILIATED UNAWARE THAT HE IS THE CEOâs FATHER
Episode 4â
None of it was true but she knew it wouldnât matter. They had already judged her, and it was all because of Lucy
The gossip reached Leonardâs ears by lunchtime, and when he found out who started it, his patience snapped.
At a companywide meeting that afternoon, Leonard Benson walked into the boardroom, his presence immediately demanding attention. Everyone went silent. Lucy sat at the head of the table, smug, thinking Leonard had finally realized Diana was a problem.
Instead, his piercing gaze landed directly on her.
âLucy,â he said coldly.
She flipped her hair, putting on a sweet smile. âYes, darling?â
Leonardâs jaw tightened. âDiana saved my grandfatherâs life without asking for anything in return,â he said, his voice loud and clear. âShe is more of a human being than you will ever be.â
The room fell into dead silence. Lucyâs smile vanished instantly. Dianaâs heart skipped a beat.
Leonard wasnât done. He turned to the rest of the room.
âIf I hear one more word about Diana that isnât work-related, Iâll personally fire the person responsible.â
Murmurs spread through the employees. Lucyâs face burned with humiliation. She had never been spoken to like this before. Leonard Benson had humiliated her in front of everyone.
At that moment, Diana felt something stir in her heart. She had never had anyone stand up for her like that before. She looked at Leonard, her eyes softening.
Maybe⌠maybe he wasnât as cold as she thought.
Lucy marched straight into Leonardâs office, slamming the door behind her.
âHow dare you embarrass me like that?â she shrieked.
Leonard barely looked up from his desk. âYou should watch your tone, Lucy.â
âWatch myâLeonard, people have always seen me as your future wife. Do you know what this does to my image?â
Leonard finally looked at her, his expression icy cold.
âYou should have thought about that before you started a campaign of lies against someone who did nothing to you,â he said sharply.
Lucyâs lips trembled. âYouâre choosing her over me?â
Leonard sighed, rubbing his temple. âLucy, you know we were never together.â
Lucy froze.
âWe have never dated,â Leonard continued. âI never asked you to be my girlfriend. I never gave you a reason to think we were more than acquaintances.â
Lucy staggered back as if she had been slapped.
âSo stop being possessive, Lucy,â Leonard said, his voice firm. âI have never belonged to you.â
Lucyâs hands shook. She had spent years in his shadow, building an image of a relationship that never existed, thinking since he hadnât opposed the rumors before, it would probably become true one day.
And now, with just a few words, he had shattered it completely.
Without another word, she stormed out of the office, her face red with anger.
As days passed, Leonard and Diana worked closely together. At first, it was just business. Diana worked hard, ignoring the stares and whispers.
But then something changed.
Leonard found himself watching her more than he should. He found himself waiting for her smile. He found himself making excuses just to talk to her.
And one evening, as they were working late in his office, he finally said it.
âDiana,â he said suddenly, leaning against his desk.
She looked up from her laptop. âYes?â
He hesitated for a secondâjust a secondâthen said, âGo out with me.â
Dianaâs fingers froze over the keyboard. Her heart stopped for a moment. She blinked rapidly, thinking she had misheard.
âWait, what?â
Leonard chuckled. âI said, go out with me.â
Dianaâs breath caught in her throat. Leonard Bensonâthe man she had seen in magazines, the man every woman in the city dreamed ofâwas asking her out.
She stared at him. âAre⌠are you serious?â
Leonard smirked. âI donât joke about things like this.â
Dianaâs hands clenched into fists. âI⌠I donât know if I can. This is too much. Youâre⌠youâre Leonard Benson.â
âIâm justâŚâ
âJust what?â Leonard interrupted. âJust a girl who helped my grandfather when no one else did? Just a girl who refused money because she wanted to earn her own way?â
Dianaâs heart pounded in her chest.
âBut what about Lucy?â she asked.
Leonard reached for her hand, his touch warm and steady.
âLucy is the daughter of my late fatherâs friend,â he said softly. âOur relationship isnât what you think.â
Diana searched his eyes, looking for any sign of dishonestyâbut she found none.
And slowly, hesitantly, she nodded.
âOkay,â she whispered. âIâll go out with you.â
Leonard smiled. And at that moment, everything changed.
When Grandpa Benson found out that Leonard and Diana were dating, he was overjoyed.
âThis is wonderful news!â he declared, clapping his hands together. âFinally, my grandson has opened his eyes to see what is right before him.â
He adored Diana. From the moment she had selflessly helped him in the boutique, he had known she was special.
But the rest of the worldâthey werenât as kind.
Within days, celebrity gossip sites exploded with headlines:
LEONARD BENSON: BILLIONAIRE CEO CAUGHT BETWEEN TWO WOMEN
IS LEONARD A PL***OY CEO ALLEGEDLY DATING HIS SENIOR MANAGER? HIS SECRETARY?
LUCY WILLIAMS, LEONARDâS LONGTIME COMPANION, LOSES HER SPOT TO A NOBODY
The media frenzy painted Leonard as a cheating pl***oy, and the rumors spread like wildfire.
Lucy used this as an opportunity.
She went to every reporter she could, pretending to be the heartbroken woman Leonard had betrayed.
âOh, Leonard and I have been together for years,â she lied in an interview. âI never thought he would replace me with aââ she stopped dramatically. âWell, you knowâŚâ
Everyone understood her hidden insult. She was calling Diana a nobody. A gold digger.
And Lucyâs plan almost worked.
Until.
Mr. Benson was not a man to be played with.
The day after Lucyâs interview, he called a press conference in front of the Benson estate. Cameras flashed. Reporters crowded in. The world watched live.
And Mr. Benson cleared his throat, his voice firm and strong.
âI am here to set the record straight,â he said. âMy grandson Leonard Benson is not dating two women.â
Murmurs spread through the crowd.
âI want the world to know that Lucy has never been in a relationship with my grandson. She is nothing more than a family friend,â Mr. Benson said coldly.
Lucy, watching from her penthouse, screamed in frustration.
But Mr. Benson wasnât done.
âMy grandson has only one woman in his life,â he continued. âAnd I want everyone to know that I only have one daughter-in-law.â
He smiled warmly and gestured toward the side.
Diana, standing nervously in a simple but elegant dress, was brought forward.
âI want my grandson to marry Diana,â Mr. Benson declared. âShe is the kind of woman Leonard needs in his life.â
The crowd went wild.
Lucyâs jaw dropped.
Diana gasped. âWait, what?!â
The flashes of cameras blinded her. Reporters yelled questions.
Leonard turned toward her, studying her reaction. He hadnât proposed yetâbut he had thought about it. And hearing his grandfather say it out loud made him realize something.
He wanted to marry her.
Lucy, watching from her penthouse, gritted her teeth in rage. Diana wasnât just taking Leonard from her. She was taking everything she had built.
And there was only one person left who could stop this.
Lucy picked up her phone and dialed quickly.
The voice on the other end answered sharply. âLucy. How are you?â
Lucy forced herself to sound calm. âLady Margaret,â she said sweetly. âI thought you should know⌠a gold digger is after your son.â
There was a pause. Then Lady MargaretâLeonardâs powerful, aristocratic motherâspoke coldly.
âExplain.â
Lucy smirked. âHer name is Diana. Sheâs a nobody. A social climber. She tricked Grandpa Benson into thinking sheâs innocent, and now⌠he wants her to marry Leonard.â
There was silence.
But then Lady Margaretâs voice came through cold and sharp.
âIâll be on the next flight home.â
Lucy smiled.
Diana had no idea what was coming for her.
