My musical journey began in 2004 in Kakuma Refugee Camp, Kenya—where, despite the dust and hardship, I found rhythm, hope, and purpose. From those humble beginnings, I returned to South Sudan to chase my dreams. Though the years were tough, the fire never died. In 2010, I came back to Kenya and stepped into the spotlight through Tusker Project Fame Season Four, quickly becoming a household name across East Africa. My sound traveled, my message resonated, and I proudly carried the identity of a South Sudanese artist across borders.
But on December 15th, 2013, everything changed. War and genocide broke out in my country. I was displaced again—but Kenya stood with me. I found my way to Ethiopia in 2014, then returned to Kenya in 2015. And once again, Kenya embraced me, lifted me up, and gave me the strength to rise. From there, I toured the world as an internationally recognized South Sudanese artist.
On April 24th, 2019, I left Kenya for Canada. It was the first time I didn’t return after a journey. Throughout my life, every time I left a country—I came back to Kenya. Kenya wasn’t just a place I passed through—it was my second home. I remained there for over six years, and I’m proud to say: I’m blessed to return home again. Kenya has always stood with South Sudan—not just for me, but for our leaders, our youth, and our dreams.
To the people of Kenya: thank you. You’ve nurtured us. You’ve protected us. You’ve lifted us when we were broken. And to my fellow South Sudanese: we must always see Kenya positively. This is not just a neighboring nation—it is a brother, a refuge, and a home that always got our back.
Kenya is the best of East Africa—and I am living proof of what is possible when we stand together. May God bless Kenya, and may our unity be the seed of Africa’s rebirth.
