The county boss, while speaking in a radio interview, attributed his presence at City Hall to the two leaders.
According to him, it is politically rational for a leader to have mentors
He said he got his own in Raila and Ruto. Whilst he acknowledged the support from his fanatics, Sakaja attributed his ascension to the City Hall leadership to the two leaders.
"In politics, you must have a mentor. You must be led before you can lead. Without Raila Odinga and William Ruto, I would not be governor. Of course, my supporters did vote for me, but they did so because I belonged to a party, and when you are in a party, you respect the leaders above you. I see other young leaders moving up and down, disrespecting the leaders who mentored them. Raila has served in Nairobi for a long time. Which MP in Nairobi is more experienced than him? Ruto has been an MP since 1997, and he is president; they must be respected and we must listen to them," Sakaja said.
The governor recently faced an impeachment but was rescued through the intervention of Raila and Ruto.
At least 85 Members of the County Assembly (MCAs) submitted their signatures endorsing the initiation of an impeachment process against the governor.
