During a visit to the gold mining fields in Nadwat, Turkana County, our director PINCH Africa, Edwin Mule Ngui, and Franklin Levy Vargas of Garrett Metal Detectors were approached by a bright young boy from Grade 3 named Kevin. He asked for our help in acquiring books so he could return to school.
Moved by his request, we immediately provided Kevin with a full set of stationery, a new pair of shoes, and a school bag. We also extended our support to another bright student, a Grade 5 girl named Christine, by providing her with new shoes and stationery.
The Headmaster of Nadwat DEB Integrated Primary and Junior School, Samwel Losike, informed us that there are a total of 150 needy and vulnerable students who require assistance. He also highlighted a critical challenge the school faces with water access and their urgent need for a borehole.
This visit reminded us that education is a powerful key to breaking barriers. We remain committed to exploring more ways to support the students and community of Nadwat.
