WHY ATAKER UNITY IS UNSTOPPABLE

"ATAKER UNITY" is a call for unity that gives the Iteso community direction in the social, political, and economic direction as well as integrating them with other communities so as to ensure cohesion.

The journey to unite ATAKER began as a result of the community being disadvantaged, yet it bears a bargaining power in terms of the number of votes and human capital. Mr. Arthur Amug Osiya, CBS decided to provide leadership to the Ateker community within the current socio-economic and political environment.

The following activities that happened have already shaped the way forward for the Ataker Community and its integration with other communities living in Busia. The PAS held several meetings with all stakeholders across Busia County as follows:

1. He held a meeting with the current MCA's from Teso North and Teso South, and Hon. Hardy Jakaa Obara from Nambale's Bukhayo North/Walatsi Ward. Present in that meeting was Teso South Legislature Hon Mary Otucho Emase.

2. He held a meeting with 180 Maendeleo ya Wanawake women leaders drawn from Teso North and Teso South.

3. He held a meeting with 95 Boda Bodas leaders from all stages in Teso North and Teso South.

4. He held a meeting with 150 former councillors, former MCA's, Retired Chiefs/Assistant Chiefs, and prominent elders from across Teso North and Teso South Constituencies.

5. He held a meeting with 72 teachers, leaders comprising of KUPETT, KNUT, Coopertavies, and Benevolent Fund, from Teso North and Teso South.

6. He led 400 hundred professionals and leaders of all cadres to Amukura on the 12th December 2023 for the observation of Jamuhuri Holiday Celebrations, where there was a serious interaction with prominent leaders from Teso South and Teso Central led by former Busia Governor Hon Sospeter Ojaamong.

7. During the December festivivities, he enabled football tournaments with sufficient kits, he enabled the Teso Night, Shabiki night, and meetings with elders from South and Central Teso in Obekai and Amagoro.

8. There have been continuous meetings with professionals and prominent leaders from Teso North, Teso South, Nambale, Matayos, Butula, Samia, and Budalangi Constituencies, and many more to come.

Going forward, there will be many other interactions/engagements with different stakeholders at the Wards, Constituencies, and at the county level.

The letter below by the ODM Party shows concerns of saving the Deputy Speaker, Ronald Bamu Kakyada Ochalu from being impeached.

However, the letter should not be associated as targeting the Teso Community in the Assembly leadership as being portrayed by the MCA so as to save himself. The impeachment of the speaker is an individual matter and the community should not be dragged in.

The Deputy speaker has been on record several times displaying nidescipline verbal statements and should therefore not drag the community in his personal problems
