Congratulations 👏 👏 State Department for Roads for well team work coordination,Earlier today, Cabinet Secretary Hon. Davis Chirchir, together with Principal Secretary Eng. Joseph Mbugua, inspected the progress of urban link roads and key infrastructure projects in Wajir County ahead of the 2026 Madaraka Day national celebrations scheduled for 1st June in Wajir Town.
The inspection covered ongoing works across Wajir Town, where approximately 25 kilometres of roads are currently undergoing upgrading and rehabilitation. The programme is aimed at improving urban mobility, strengthening drainage systems, and enhancing access to key public and government facilities.
The key link roads under construction include the Furaha Girls–Stadium–Wajir Stadium corridor, the Manyalo Junction and Stadium Ring Road, and the Airport Gate–Basabra–Furaha School (A2) Stadium Link. Additional works include drainage capacity enhancement along the B13 Miyale Road and the upgrading of the CAIPS access road.
The Cabinet Secretary expressed satisfaction with the progress of the ongoing works, noting the importance of timely completion in readiness for the national celebrations.
The inspection was attended by Wajir Governor H.E. Ahmed Abdullahi, officials from the Kenya Urban Roads Authority, and other local leaders.
