On 9th October 2024, we took thirty shareholders on a ranch visit. The experience began with a brief introduction to the history of Mbale Ranching Company and its commitment to sustainable agriculture. As the group ventured out, they were shown the vibrant pastures, where our healthy cows grazed contentedly. The Chairman and the Ranch Manager explained the importance of pasture management and the practices employed to ensure the animals thrive in a natural environment.

Next, the tour led to the water pans and boreholes, highlighting the company's efforts in water conservation. Shareholders observed and appreciated the efforts the board and management have made to reinforce the company's dedication to sustainability.

Throughout the visit, the enthusiasm of the company staffs was evident as they shared stories about their daily operations and the challenges they face. The shareholders left with a deeper appreciation for the company’s practices and a renewed sense of connection to the land, understanding how their investments contribute to a sustainable future for the company.

Through the Taita Taveta Wildlife Conservancies Association in partnership with the International Fund for Animal Welfare (ifaw), we had an impactful meeting at Kilaguni Lodge, Tsavo West National Park, with Mr. Azzedine Downes, President of ifaw. We discussed key issues related to wildlife protection, community engagement, and sustainable conservation strategies. It was an inspiring session, contributing to the future of conservation in our Tsavo landscape.

Grazing plans are crucial in maintaining the health of rangelands, ensuring a balanced approach to the needs of both livestock and wildlife while preserving soil fertility and preventing land degradation. Thanks to the support of Taita Taveta Wildlife Conservancies Association, our ranch has successfully developed a comprehensive grazing plan through the Sustainable Management of Tsavo Landscape Project, funded by USAID.
Proper pasture management is key to achieving human-wildlife coexistence, reducing conflicts, and promoting biodiversity. When rangelands are managed sustainably, we not only protect the environment but also secure livelihoods for future generations. A well-executed grazing plan ensures that natural resources are used responsibly, benefiting both the ecosystem and the communities.

The Mbale Ranch was established in 1972. The ranch is located in south-eastern Kenya in the
county of Taita-Taveta and in Voi Sub-County. The ranch ecosystem is known for its greater
biodiversity of both plants and wild animals, being at the critical site of the wildlife corridor that
connects Tsavo West, Tsavo East National Parks and Mkomanzi National Park in Tanzania. The
main reason for the Ranch formation was to support the development of sustainable ranching
activities for the benefit of its shareholders and practice eco-tourism. The Ranch is in a process of
registering as a Conservancy, which it is strategically situated within the Tsavo Conservation Area
Ecosystem. The Ranch has developed a Grazing Management Plan and the ranch commits to
support sustainable ecosystems, reduce land degradation and increase Agricultural productivity
from Livestock production within an integrated system that protects biodiversity through
sustainable grazing. That is why Mbale Ranch is looking forward to recruit the below advertised
