The story of Dr. Mohamud Dagane is truly heartbreaking. The young doctor had just graduated a few days ago in Russia and his family and friends were preparing to welcome him back to Kenya after completing his medical studies.

Sadly, Dagane passed away in Russia and now his family who are from Garissa County is making arrangements to repatriate his body back to the country. Just days before his death, Dagane, full of life, had penned a beautiful letter detailing his dreams and ambitions expressing his gratitude to everyone who supported him throughout his journey to becoming a medical doctor.

During the 60th anniversary celebration of Wajir High School, the Chairman of the Alumni Association, Hon. Senator Abdirahman Ali Hassan (Olow), CBS, delivered a powerful and nostalgic address.

Hon. Olow, a distinguished alumnus of Wajir High, brought with him a wealth of experience from his remarkable career — having served as Senator for Wajir County, Deputy Minority Leader in the Senate of Kenya, Assistant Minister for Trade, and Member of Parliament for Wajir South. His service extends beyond politics, having worked as a Program Officer in Education at Oxfam GB Wajir, Education Officer and Headteacher in the Ministry of Education in both Wajir and Garissa, and contributing to regional development as part of the IGAD Stabilization Plan’s Core Technical Team.

In his speech, Hon. Olow paid tribute to the school’s legacy of academic excellence, discipline, and leadership development in the region. He urged students to remain focused and uphold the values that define Wajir High, while calling on alumni to give back and support the school’s future.
