TWO IN CUSTODY OVER MOB INJUSTICE INCIDENT IN NYAMIRA

Two suspects have been taken into custody by Nyamira North Detectives following a disturbing mob injustice incident that unfolded on July 26, 2025.

The suspects, identified as James Nyang’au Kieri and Evans Nyang’au Anyoka, were captured on a distressing footage that has since gone viral on social media, depicting them mercilessly assaulting a man suspected of theft and ultimately tossing him into a burning fire.

Through forensic analysis, detectives trailed the suspects and apprehended them. They are currently in custody undergoing processing pending arraignment.

The National Police Service expresses deep concern over the alarming rise in cases of mob injustice incidents and their severe implications for public safety. The public is urged to allow the justice system to take its course, as taking the law into one’s own hands will be met with the full force of the law.

10 Nyamira MCAs Face Possible Removal from Office

Ten Members of the Nyamira County Assembly risk losing their seats following recommendations by the Assembly’s Committee on Powers and Privileges. The committee has proposed that the seats be declared vacant, and the full Assembly is expected to vote on whether to adopt the report.

The affected MCAs were part of the breakaway "Nyamira County Mashinani Assembly" group.

The MCAs named in the report are:
1. Hon. Nyambega Gisesa – MCA, Rigoma Ward
2. Hon. Joel Ombongi – MCA, Bokeira Ward
3. Hon. Martha Marwa
4. Hon. Jeliah Nyakang’i
5. Hon. Beatrice Onyancha
6. Hon. Edinah Obara
7. Hon. Janerose Nafula
8. Hon. Elijah Abere
9. Hon. Lydiah Bosire
10. Hon. Zipporah Matundura

In addition, two other members—Hon. Abel Mokaya and Hon. Lameck Sikweya Enana—have been suspended for seven sittings and 60 days, respectively.
