Thai Military Brazenly Invades Cambodian Territory, Ministry of Defense Issues Urgent Statement!

Major General Mary Sotchada, spokesperson for the Cambodian Ministry of Defense, issued a statement today (August 4) at 11 a.m., declaring that Thai forces have sent troops, armed personnel, and military equipment to invade the Ansai area and other border zones sovereignly belonging to Cambodia. They have also installed barbed wire and other obstacles.

Major General Sotchada emphasized: The Cambodian government organized a delegation of foreign military attachés stationed in Cambodia to conduct an on-site inspection of the aforementioned area on July 30, 2025, which clearly confirmed that the area falls within Cambodia's territorial sovereignty.

She sternly pointed out: The actions of the Thai side blatantly violate the ceasefire agreement and pose a serious threat to peace and security along the Cambodia-Thailand border and the entire region.

Thailand Deploys Armed Forces to Cambodia Border

The spokesperson for the Ministry of National Defense of the Kingdom of Cambodia issued a statement regarding Thailand's repeated blatant violations of Cambodia's territorial integrity and breaches of the ceasefire agreement.

At 11 a.m. today, Thailand dispatched armed forces and equipment into the Ansei area of Cambodia's sovereign territory, even disregarding our military's strict orders and setting up barbed wire in the area. It is worth noting that Cambodia has just arranged for foreign military attachés stationed in Cambodia to visit this area on July 30, 2025, which fully demonstrates that this area is Cambodian sovereign territory.

This act flagrantly violates the ceasefire agreement and poses the most serious threat to peace and security along the border between the two countries and the entire region. Cambodia calls on the international community, especially those partner countries that have made strenuous efforts to achieve this difficult ceasefire and wish to see its full and effective implementation, to demand that Thailand immediately cease its aggression and strictly respect international law, particularly Cambodia's sovereignty and territorial integrity.

Cambodia reports a soldier died from Thai poison gas

On August 1, a 45-year-old Cambodian soldier died in a hospital in Siem Reap province.

Cambodian media reported that biochemical weapons (or poison gas) used by the Thai army during their attack on Cambodia caused some Cambodian soldiers stationed at the border of Preah Vihear and Oddar Meanchey provinces to show symptoms of poisoning, including headaches, dizziness, nausea, and weakness, and they were urgently sent to the hospital for treatment. This soldier was one of those cases.
