[Full story link in the comments]​​​ The United Kingdom has reaffirmed its commitment to supporting Cambodia’s socio-economic development, humanitarian assistance and mine-clearance efforts during a meeting between Prime Minister Hun Manet and a senior British minister.

Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet has reaffirmed Cambodia’s commitment to resolving its border dispute with Thailand peacefully and in accordance with international law, despite a ceasefire reached between the two countries at the end of 2025. Tensions along the shared border remain fragile.

Hun Manet made the remarks on 27 August 2026 at the opening of the second Inter-Parliamentary Speakers Conference (2nd ISC) in Phnom Penh, attended by parliamentary leaders, delegates, lawmakers and representatives of international organisations.

Cambodian Senate President Hun Sen says he is considering dates for a visit to Russia, after Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Andrey Rudenko said President Vladimir Putin was looking forward to welcoming him.

The remarks were made during a meeting between Hun Sen and Andrey Rudenko, who paid a courtesy call and held talks with the Cambodian Senate president on 24 August 2026.

The Cambodian government has lodged a strong formal protest against Thai Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul’s visit to the An Ses area in Choam Ksan district, Preah Vihear province, describing it as a violation of Cambodia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.

Cambodia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs said the visit on 23 August 2026 was a deliberate attempt to assert what it described as an illegal territorial claim. The ministry said the An Ses area had been illegally occupied by Thai armed forces since 2025 and that the visit by the Thai leader could not create any legal rights over territory Cambodia claims as its own.
