Military Attaché of Malaysia to Cambodia Leads a Delegation of Seven Countries to Military Region 5 in Battambang Province

The Interim Observer Team (IOT) led by COL NAZLEE BIN ABDUL RAHIM, Defence Attaché of Malaysia to Cambodia, comprising representatives from Brunei, Indonesia, Lao, Myanmar, the Philippines, and Vietnam, both resident and non-resident, with the total of 7 countries, departed for various actual sites in order to observe first-hand on the border security situation by which was directly impacted during the Cambodia-Thailand border conflict.

His Excellency Lieutenant General EK SAMOUN, Deputy Commander of the Royal Cambodian Army and Commander of Military Region 5 in Battambang province, briefed the delegation of seven countries on the current situation of the Cambodia-Thailand border.

The Ministry of National Defense reaffirms its commitment to implementing the ceasefire agreement and is steadfastly dedicated to the principles of international law, the peaceful resolution of disputes, and the preservation of its territorial integrity and sovereignty at all costs.

It should be noted that the military attachés, with representatives from Brunei, Indonesia, Laos, Myanmar, the Philippines, and Vietnam, both resident and non-resident in Cambodia, with a total of seven member countries, traveled to various on-site locations to observe the border security situation directly impacted during the Cambodia-Thailand border conflict, as follows:
1. Battambang Province (Military Region 5)
2. Banteay Meanchey Province: Poipet International Border Checkpoint, O'Beichoan border Checkpoint (Chok Chey Village), and Boeung Trakoun Border Checkpoint
3. Preah Vihear Province (An Ses Border Checkpoint)

Ceasefire talks have started between Thai and Cambodian leaders in Malaysia in an urgent effort to resolve deadly border clashes that entered a fifth day despite mounting international calls for peace.

Thailand’s acting Prime Minister Phumtham Wechayachai and Cambodia’s Prime Minister Hun Manet are holding ceasefire talks on Monday in Malaysia’s administrative capital of Putrajaya at the official residence of Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, the chair of the regional bloc ASEAN.
