Cambodia, the ancient land of the Khmer Empire, has a rich and profound history intertwined with religion, culture, and peace. The majestic temples of Angkor Wat, Bayon, and Preah Vihear stand as eternal symbols of Cambodia’s spiritual and architectural legacy, blending Hinduism and Buddhism in harmony.
A Land of Faith & Peace
For centuries, Cambodia has been a land of tolerance and spirituality, where Hinduism (from the early Khmer kings) and Theravada Buddhism (later embraced by the people) coexisted peacefully. The Khmer people have always valued harmony, justice, and non-violence, as seen in their teachings of Metta (loving-kindness) and Karuna (compassion).
Temples: Sacred Symbols of Cambodian Identity
Angkor Wat – Originally a Hindu temple dedicated to Vishnu, later transformed into a Buddhist sanctuary.
Bayon Temple – The smiling faces of Avalokiteshvara (Buddhist compassion) reflect the empire’s spiritual depth.
Preah Vihear Temple – A sacred Hindu-Shivaite temple on the Cambodian-Thai border, recognized by the World Court as Cambodian territory.
Cambodia Seeks Justice & Peace, Not War
Cambodia has suffered enough from colonialism, civil war, and genocide. The Khmer people do not want war—they want peace, stability, and justice. However, when Thailand attacked first in the past (such as the 2008-2011 border clashes near Preah Vihear), Cambodia had no choice but to defend its sovereignty.
The International Court of Justice (ICJ) ruled in 1962 that Preah Vihear belongs to Cambodia, yet disputes and provocations have persisted. Cambodia does not seek conflict but will always protect its land, people, and sacred heritage.
A Call for Peace & Respect
Cambodia’s culture is one of forgiveness (as seen in post-Khmer Rouge reconciliation), but also of dignity and resilience. The world must recognize:
✔ Cambodia has the right to defend itself.
✔ Historical temples like Preah Vihear are Cambodian heritage.
✔ War brings only suffering—peace is the only way.
Justice for Cambodia!
We stand for peace, not war.
The Khmer spirit is unbreakable.
