On the morning of July 27, 2025, invading Thai forces continued their deliberate assault on the sacred Preah Vihear Temple, a UNESCO World Heritage Site that the international community has a duty to safeguard. The Thai military launched a fresh armed incursion, deploying heavy artillery and firing directly at the temple complex, resulting in extensive and irreparable damage to multiple sections. We categorically and unequivocally condemn this blatant act of cultural vandalism and military aggression.

From the citizens of Cambodia:

We want peace. We love peace. But Thailand is threatening that peace. They have invaded Cambodian territory. They have entered our land and laid claim to our ancient temple. They were the first to open fire on Cambodian soldiers—on our land.

We did not seek conflict. But we cannot allow our sovereignty to be invaded. We have the right—and the duty—to defend our country, our people, our territory, and our heritage.

We call on the international community to be witnesses to the truth and to stand with justice. We seek a peaceful resolution, but we will not surrender our land, our history, or our dignity.

Cambodia stands for peace, but Cambodia will also stand firm.

កងទ័ពសៀមបានបាញ់ផ្លោងកាំភ្លើងធំចូលភូមិអូរពក និងភូមិគោកប្រាសាទ សង្កាត់កូនក្រៀល ក្រុងសំរោង ខេត្តឧត្តរមានជ័យ កាលពីថ្ងៃទី ២៤ និង ២៥ ខែកក្កដា ២០២៥ ដោយបង្កឲ្យមានការខូចខាតដល់ផ្ទះសម្បែង សាលារៀន និងបណ្តាលឲ្យពលរដ្ឋជម្លៀសចេញ។ មានរណ្តៅគ្រាប់ និងគ្រាប់មិនទាន់ផ្ទុះនៅសល់ក្នុងភូមិ។ នេះជាសកម្មភាពឈ្លានពាន និងបំពានធ្ងន់លើសុវត្ថិភាពប្រជាពលរដ្ឋកម្ពុជា។

Thai military fired artillery shells towards O'Pok and Kok Prasat villages, Kon Kriel commune, Samrong city, Oddar Meanchey province, on July 24 and 25, 2025, causing damages to homes and schools, forcing residents’ evacuation. Shell holes and unexploded shells are left in the villages. This is an act of aggression and in serious violation of the safety of Cambodian citizens.

: National Defense Ministry spokesperson Maly Socheata confirmed in a press conference on July 26 that five soldiers were killed, and 21 others were injured in Oddar Meanchey province in the Thai military attack. Eight civilians were dead, while 50 others were wounded.
In Oddar Meanchey province, 6,577 families (23,328 people) have been evacuated, while 3,112 families (10,420 people) in Preah Vihear province have been taken to the safety shelter.
Meanwhile, the armed aggression has expanded to Pursat province, forcing 94 families (201 people) to immediately evacuate. In Banteay Meanchey Province, 524 families (1,880 people) have fled.
A total of 35,829 civilians have fled their homes, according to Socheata.
