"Everyone in the city knew the luxury plaza.
Golden fountains sparkled beneath the warm afternoon sun.
Luxury cars lined the streets.
Families laughed as they carried shopping bags from designer boutiques.
But no one noticed the little boy sitting alone beside the fountain.
His clothes were worn.
His stomach rumbled with hunger.
Day after day, hundreds of people walked past him without a single glance.
Then, one afternoon, a little girl wearing a white coat suddenly let go of her mother's hand.
She ran straight toward him.
“Here,” she said, holding out a sandwich.
The boy blinked in surprise.
“For me?”
She smiled and nodded.
His hands trembled as he accepted it.
Before he had the chance to say anything, she stepped forward and wrapped her arms around him.
The boy froze.
No one had hugged him in years.
For the first time in a very long time, he felt human again.
Suddenly, an angry voice rang across the plaza.
“EMILY!”
The little girl's mother hurried toward them.
“What are you doing?”
But the moment she reached them, her eyes fell on the boy's face.
She stopped.
The color drained from her cheeks.
Her gaze fixed on the small scar above his eyebrow.
The very same scar her missing son had received eight years earlier.
The boy looked up at her.
A strange memory flashed through his mind.
A warm voice.
A gentle smile.
A woman softly singing him to sleep.
His lips trembled.
“Mom...?”
The woman's handbag slipped from her hand.
Tears instantly filled her eyes.
Then she collapsed to her knees."
