We’re very happy to be presenting Ahmed Moneka at WOMEX 2026.

Ahmed’s journey from Baghdad to Toronto has shaped a truly unique musical identity. Drawing on his Afro-Sufi-Iraqi heritage, he brings together African grooves, Arabic folk melodies, funk, soul and jazz, creating music that feels both joyful and deeply personal.

We’ve had the opportunity to work closely with Ahmed and have seen his performances several times. Beyond his remarkable musicianship, what stands out is his warmth, authenticity and ability to connect with people. He has become an important and much-loved artist in Toronto, and we’re excited to help bring his music to a wider international audience.

At Sound Puzzle, we believe music has the power to connect people, cultures and places. Our work is about creating meaningful connections between artists and international music communities, and Ahmed is a beautiful example of what can happen when different musical traditions and experiences come together.

We’re proud to support Ahmed’s journey and excited to share his music with the WOMEX community.

Go, go, Ahmed Moneka! 🌍🎶

Gayageum artist Daaa Chan was invited to perform as part of the official programme of Trenčín 2026, European Capital of Culture. Congratulations to Daaa Chan on delivering a beautiful one-hour performance, presenting her own music through the unique sound of the gayageum. 👏 The audience and the host organisation were both very pleased with the performance, making it an even more meaningful occasion. We are also very grateful for the beautiful painting that was personally gifted to Daaa Chan after the performance. It was a special day of connecting through music and sharing another form of art and kindness.
