'2024 Mungyeong World Taekwondo Hanmadang (World Taekwondo Festival)' has started accepting applications

May 13th to June 14th… The Military Sports Unit of Mungyeong City will be held from July 26th
The Kukkiwon of the World Taekwondo Headquarters has begun accepting applications for participation in the "2024 Mungyeong World Taekwondo Hanmadang (hereinafter referred to as Hanmadang)."
Hanmadang will be held at Sun Seungkwan, the Armed Forces Sports Unit in Mungyeong-si, Gyeongsangbuk-do, for five days from July 26 (Fri) to 30 (Tue).
Hanmadang, which took its first step in 1992, is a taekwondo competition venue with a cumulative participant of 65,000 and the largest festival of taekwondo families in the global world, and is held annually by Kukkiwon (2020-2022).
The application period for participation is from May 13 (Mon) to June 14 (Fri), and anyone with Taekwondo keepsakes and terminals of Kukkiwon can apply on the Hanmadang website (hanmadang.kukkiwon.or.kr ).
This year's Hanmadang will be held in a total of 94 categories in 15 sports, with 23 categories of two sports increasing due to the addition of official and demonstration sports.
The competition (team event), which was a demonstration event last year, will be promoted to an official event and six individual competitions will be promoted, while the actual self-defense skills added as a demonstration event will be individual and team competitions.
It is expected that a balanced development of Taekwondo will be achieved by adding new competition and actual self-defense events.
In addition, regulations have been reorganized to allow various age groups to participate in order to revitalize the event of official pumsae and breaking power.
Junior I (under 12 years old), II (under 15 years old), III (under 18 years old), and Senior I (under 29 years old) were added to the official Pomsae (individual competition).
In addition, △ Senior Ⅰ (under 29) and Ⅱ (under 39) integrated sectors were divided into △ Senior Ⅲ (under 59) and Ⅳ (under 59) categories to match age equity by sector.
However, in the case of defeating women's power, three categories of senior Ⅲ, Ⅳ, and master will be integrated in consideration of the number of participants.
Participants who have completed the application must pay the participation fee by card from June 17 (Mon) to 21 (Fri).
Meanwhile, Kukkiwon signed an agreement with Mungyeong City on April 2 to host Hanmadang and began full-fledged preparations by forming an organizing committee.

한마당은 오는 7월 26일(금)부터 30일(화)까지 5일간 경상북도 문경시 국군체육부대 선승관에서 열린다.
1992년 첫발을 내디딘 한마당은 누적 참가자가 6만 5천여 명에 달하는 태권도 경연의 장이자 지구촌 태권도 가족들의 최대 축제로, 국기원이 매년(2020년~2022년 제외) 개최하고 있다.
참가 접수 기간은 5월 13일(월)부터 6월 14일(금)까지로 국기원의 태권도 유품‧단자이면 누구나 한마당 누리집
(hanmadang.kukkiwon.or.kr)에서 신청할 수 있다.
올해 한마당은 정식 종목 및 시범 종목 추가 등으로 2개 종목 23개 부문이 증가해, 총 15개 종목 94개 부문에서 치러진다.
지난해 시범 종목이였던 겨루기(단체전)는 정식 종목으로 승격시켜 개인전 6개 부문을, 시범 종목으로 추가된 실전 호신술은 개인전 및 단체전을 진행한다.
겨루기와 실전 호신술 종목을 새롭게 추가함으로써 태권도의 균형 있는 발전을 꾀할 수 있을 것으로 기대된다.
또한 공인 품새와 위력 격파의 종목 활성화를 위해 다양한 연령대가 참가할 수 있도록 규정을 정비했다.
공인 품새(개인전) 종목에서 주니어Ⅰ(12세 이하), Ⅱ(15세 이하), Ⅲ(18세 이하), 시니어 Ⅰ(29세 이하) 부문을 추가했다.
그리고 위력 격파에서는 △시니어 Ⅰ(29세 이하), Ⅱ(39세 이하) 통합 부문을 나눴고, △기존 시니어 Ⅲ(59세 이하) 부문을 Ⅲ(49세 이하)와 Ⅳ(59세 이하)로 세분화해 부문별 연령 형평성을 맞췄다.
다만, 여성 위력 격파의 경우에는 참가자 수를 고려해 시니어 Ⅲ, Ⅳ, 마스터 3개 부문을 통합 진행한다.
접수를 마친 참가자는 6월 17일(월)부터 21일(금)까지 카드로 참가비를 납부해야 한다.
한편 국기원은 문경시와 4월 2일 한마당 개최 관련 협약을 체결하고, 조직위원회를 구성하는 등 본격적인 준비에 착수했다.
