Interior Ministry Exposes Human Trafficking Network Using Domestic Workers.
The General Department of Criminal Investigation, represented by the Residency Affairs Investigation Department, has arrested a well-known domestic labor recruitment office in a private residential area for involvement in human trafficking and facilitating illegal visa issuance in exchange for money. The operation was conducted under the directives of First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Fahad Al-Yousef, as part of ongoing efforts to combat residency and visa fraud.
The MOI stated that the case was uncovered following extensive investigations into reports indicating that the office recruited domestic workers through a group of Citizens listed as sponsors. Upon the workers’ arrival in Kuwait, the office arranged their transfer to other individuals in exchange for amounts ranging between KD 1,200 and KD 1,300 per worker figures significantly higher than official rates set by the relevant authorities. Meanwhile, the citizens involved in issuing the visas received between KD 50 and KD 100 per worker for facilitating the recruitment process.
The ministry confirmed that all parties involved have been referred to the competent authorities to initiate necessary legal action.
The Ministry of Interior reiterated its commitment to pursuing anyone who violates the law or exploits workers through illegal means, damaging Kuwait’s reputation locally and internationally. It emphasized that human trafficking is among the most serious crimes threatening human values and societal security, and affirmed that strict legal measures will be taken against all those proven to be involved.
