ശനിയാഴ്ച രാവിലെ, മിർസാപൂർ സ്റ്റേഷനിൽ ബ്രഹ്മപുത്ര മെയിലിൽ കയറാൻ കാവൽ നിൽക്കുകയായിരുന്ന സെൻട്രൽ റിസർവ് പോലീസ് ഫോഴ്‌സ് (സിആർപിഎഫ്) ഉദ്യോഗസ്ഥർ, ശിവന് സമർപ്പിക്കുന്നതിനായി ഗംഗാജലം ശേഖരിക്കാൻ കൻവാർ യാത്ര നടത്തുന്ന തീർത്ഥാടകരുമായി ടിക്കറ്റ് വാങ്ങുന്നതിനെച്ചൊല്ലി തർക്കത്തിലേർപ്പെട്ടു.

ഏഴു പേരെ കസ്റ്റഡിയിലെടുത്തതായി റെയിൽവേ പോലീസ് ഫോഴ്‌സ് ഇൻസ്‌പെക്ടർ ചമൻ സിംഗ് തോമർ പറഞ്ഞു. On Saturday morning, the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel was waiting to board the Brahmaputra Mail at Mirzapur station when he got into an argument with some Kanwariyas - pilgrims who undertake the Kanwar Yatra to collect Ganga water for offering it to Lord Shiva - over buying a ticket.
A video shows the CRPF man encircled by at least eight men in saffron who pull him and one of them hits him. As he tries to retaliate, the paramilitary personnel is attacked by many Kanwariyas at once, thrown to the ground and punched and kicked several times. The group then walks away and the CRPF man is helped to his feet by a person at the railway station. Enraged, the CRPF personnel walks towards the Kanwariyas, one of whom slaps him. He tries to throw a punch but is surrounded again, punched several times and then pushed to the same spot of the platform. The Kanwariyas can be seen kicking him again and some people on the platform try to intervene.
Railway Police Force Inspector Chaman Singh Tomar said seven people have been taken into custody. "Around 9.30 am today, the CRPF jawan was waiting to board the Brahmaputra Mail when he had an argument with some men in red clothes. We have taken seven people into custody and further investigation is on," he said.

The Ministry of External Affairs on Thursday responded to North Atlantic Treaty Organisation (NATO) chief Mark Rutte's remarks on possible sanctions over India's trade with Russia, cautioning against "double standards".
MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal, at the weekly media briefing in Delhi, said, "We have seen reports on the subject and are closely following the developments. Let me reiterate that securing the energy needs of our people is understandably an overriding priority for us."
Mr Jaiswal warned of double standards regarding the matter and said, "In this endeavour, we are guided by what is on offer in the markets and by prevailing global circumstances. We would particularly caution against any double standards on the matter."

'Vatsala', considered to be Asia's oldest elephant, died on Tuesday at the age of more than 100 years at the Panna Tiger Reserve in Madhya Pradesh. The female elephant was brought to Narmadapuram from Kerala and later shifted to the Panna Tiger Reserve.

New Delhi: Two people were injured after an Air Force fighter jet crashed in Rajasthan's Churu Wednesday.
The plane - a Jaguar fighter, news agency ANI said citing defence sources - crashed near Bhanuda village in Ratangarh district, and the wreckage is reportedly still burning.
There is no confirmation yet about casualties or the condition of the pilot or pilots, or about the nature of the mission - training or operational - the aircraft was on when it crashed.

The Air Force has several bases in Rajasthan, including one in Jodhpur and another in Bikaner.
In April an Air Force Jaguar fighter aircraft crashed near Gujarat's Jamnagar.

One of the pilots, Siddharth Yadav, was killed saving the life of the other.
The fighter crashed at 9.30 pm in an open field after experiencing a technical malfunction during a training mission. Yadav ensured his co-pilot ejected in time and suffered minor injuries only.

Unfortunately Yadav could not exit the jet in time.
Civilian casualties were avoided.

Air India flight returns to Mumbai after burning smell

Air India said its Mumbai ground teams provided support to passengers during disruption

An Air India flight to Chennai was forced to return to Mumbai on Saturday after passengers and crew detected a burning smell in the cabin, media reports said.

Flight AI 639, operating from Mumbai to Chennai on June 27, made a precautionary decision to return to Mumbai shortly after takeoff, Air India confirmed in an official statement.

“The flight safely landed back in Mumbai, and an aircraft change was arranged,” the airline said, without providing further details on the cause of the smell.

Air India added that its ground teams in Mumbai offered all necessary assistance to passengers to minimise inconvenience caused by the unexpected disruption.

A passenger shared on social media that the plane departed Mumbai at 11:50 pm and flew for about 45 minutes before the captain announced the return due to a technical issue. The flight touched down safely at approximately 12:47 am.
