KHALLATA TRAINING + INTERNSHIP PROGRAM in Blender
OPEN CALL for 2d + 3d Animators
“Khallata” is a training program for young animators and digital artists who wish to learn or deepen their skills in Blender, an open-source 2D/3D creation suite. Selected applicants will receive an intensive 2 month training covering a wide range of core topics, such as:
- using Blender’s Grease Pencil
- integrating 2D+3D workflows
- efficiently modeling 3D assets
- lighting, shading + texturing
- keyframe animation basics
In the second phase of the program, chosen participants will extend their learning outside the classroom and apply what they acquired in the framework of a 3 month internship within the pre-production phase of a 3D feature animation project by Bunduq Studio, with an opportunity at the end to be recruited to the production team. Participants will be exposed to a number of Blender trainers, both locally and abroad, in addition to mentors with experience working in the field.
Schedule commitment will involve 3 (2-3 hour) sessions/week for 5 months (training+ internship) mainly in Mar Mkhayel (Damj Studio) and Furn el Chebbak (Cinema Coop). Participants will receive a monthly stipend during the training and internship period. No prerequisite digital experience necessary to apply, but applicants are responsible for having their own pc/laptop during the program. (Note: while the program will be based in Beirut, applicants living outside the city are encouraged to apply regardless of their ability to commute as the schedule is still flexible and there may be online access to the program content)
