The Maronite Catholic Society of Australia Visits LF Headquarters in Maarab
The Maronite Catholic Society of Australia had the honour of attending a special workshop hosted by the Lebanese Forces at their headquarters in Maarab.
Representing our MCS were Vice President Mr. Joe Younan, Board Member Dr. Anthony Hasham, and two inspiring young Maronite youth delegates, Ms. Danielle Younan and Mr. Josef Chedid, who were warmly received.
LF representatives were.
1. Fadi Karam: Member of Lebanese Parliament.
2. Ghayath Yazbeck: Member of Lebanese Parliament.
3. Elie Khoury: Member of Lebanese Parliament.
4. Imad Wakim: Lebanese Forces Diaspora Co Ordinator.
5. Joseph Ishak: former Member of Lebanese Parliament.
Their participation reflected our ongoing commitment to engaging with Lebanon’s political and community leadership, while empowering the next generation of Maronite Australians to stay connected to their heritage and play a meaningful role in shaping Lebanon’s future.
This gathering was an important opportunity for the Maronite Catholic Society to express what we believe is both relevant and vital for the Maronite community in Australia. It also allowed us to explore how we can collaborate with all Maronite political parties toward building a brighter future for Lebanon.
We heard from key representatives of the Lebanese Forces (LF) about various initiatives and projects they are undertaking to support the Lebanese people. The meeting was constructive, insightful, and resourceful—offering a clear view of the LF’s dedication, direction, and commitment both in Lebanon and throughout the diaspora.
Toward the end of the session, we had the honour of being joined by LF leader Dr. Samir Geagea. We took the opportunity to acknowledge his long-standing service and reminded him that his years of hard work and personal sacrifice have not been forgotten.
Dr. Geagea also reiterated his commitment to supporting the government in the rebuilding of Lebanon, and he encouraged our youth to stay connected to their Maronite heritage. We expressed our appreciation for his continued leadership, and we shared our hope that he remains a national figure committed not only to his political party but also to unity among Maronites and the broader Lebanese political landscape.
It was encouraging to witness the LF’s platform, which has renewed our confidence in Lebanon’s future.
Special thanks go to Mr. Louis Fares, Presidents of the Lebanese Forces in Australia, Mr. Tony Obied, and our own board member Mr. Lichaa Chidiac for organising this important event. We also extend our heartfelt appreciation to the respected Mr. Salim Chidiac ,widely regarded as the Godfather of the LF in Australia—for his enduring dedication to the cause.
United in purpose, we look forward to continuing our shared efforts in support of Lebanon and its next generation.
